Happy 25 weeks everyone. Today the babies weigh about as much as a rutabaga. They are growing and getting bigger every day. I'm thankful for every day they are still able to grow inside of me.
My doctor and the specialist were both in to see me this morning. They said I'm here for at least 5 weeks. If I make it until 30 weeks they will consider sending me home. One of the main reasons they are keeping me here is because of the distance we live to the hospital. Currently the babies are so small I would only need to dialate to about 3-4 cm in order for me to go into active labor and deliver. At 30 weeks I would almost have to be fully dialated for them to deliver which would give us more time to get to the hospital. Big difference. But they said they will revisit that at 30 weeks and go from there.
The specialist also said that she believes if I didn't have the cerclage put in the babies would have delivered by now because that is really the only thing holding things together right now. She said with a single babies she's seen people go to 36 weeks but she doesn't believe that will be my case. Anything over 30 weeks right now is a blessing.
The nutritionist was just in to give me some more food options. Turns out I'm not gaining enough weight. Who would've thought that the only time I CAN'T gain enough weight is when I'm pregnant with twins. I think they've totally squashed my stomach and it doesn't allow me to eat as much. Crazy.
Monday I will take the gestational diabetes test. This is a normal test that every pregnant woman takes. I would've taken it this week but they say the steroids that I was given last week can sometimes affect the test. So that will be Monday. They may also send in a physical therapist to give me some exercises to do to keep my strength up in bed.
I have to say I'm learning a lot in the hospital. The nurses are so helpful. I'm in good hands. Hope everyone is having a good week.
